The flat is part of an early 1950s apartment block on the Moskva River embankment in Arbat District of Moscow. All rooms have retained original elements, such as wooden windows, doors, parquet flooring and plaster cornicing.

Living room window curtains were made of neutral beige cotton fabric so that the focus would be on the furniture. There is also a thin linen Roman blind to diffuse the light. The same fabric was used for curtains separating the living room from other spaces in the flat to make it more private.

For the Roman blinds in the kids room a border and fringe in blue tones have been used to complement the colour of wallpaper.

In the bedroom, the embroidered pattern on the border repeats the pattern of the tiles which can be seen in the hallway. The colour of the embroidery matches the painted walls.
